I'd been planning to incorporate shells into my paintings for quite a while, and had finished "Fine Feathered Friend" and "Hooker's Dream" in which I'd taken inanimate textures and morphed them into something living. It was fun to sketch this a pair of birds, using the starting place of a Murex shell. I also sketched a shell toad and shell Chameleon that I will likely do in the future.
